The City of Carlsbad Council adopted Sustainability Principles in 2008. These Guiding Principles focus on balancing environmental, economic and community needs, towards achieving  a sustainable future for the City of Carlsbad.  The city’s environmental commitment includes everything from keeping beaches and lagoons clean, to developing innovative renewable energy projects and an employee “Green Team” that helps city staff do their part every day.
