LA COSTA GLEN TRAILThe La Costa Glen Trail is located in the SW quadrant of Carlsbad adjacent to a linear open space corridor along Encinitas Creek. This soft service trail easily accessible off of El Camino Real at Calle Barcelona or Levante Street. Once you hike out onto the trail you will be pleasantly surprised by the sounds of songbirds in the riparian vegetation along the creek. This area is sometimes referred to as Green Valley. The southern maritime chaparral located in Green Valley supports critical populations of Del Mar Manzanita and Encinitas baccharis as well as major populations of wart-stemmed ceanothus and Del Mar Mesa sand aster. This trail also extends to the south and connects to the City of Encinitas trail that leads to Leucadia Blvd. Note: There will be construction occurring along the north end of the trail as part of the expansion of La Costa Glen Retirement Community which is adjacent to the trail. It is expected that the construction will begin in Mid August 2004 and will continue to September 2005. The trail will remain open and available to the public for use during the expansion of the retirement community. DirectionsI -5 to La Costa Ave. Exit. |
