Join the City of Carlsbad for a hands-on Fixit Clinic with a "Dog Days of Summer" theme. Bring your broken or well-loved household items and work alongside volunteer coaches to troubleshoot and repair them, helping keep useful items out of the landfill.

This summer-themed clinic will focus on practical repair skills for favorite summer gear, including surfboards, wetsuits, skateboards and roller skates. You can also bring electronics, appliances, computers, toys, bicycles, clothing and other items for assessment, disassembly and possible repair.

City staff and volunteers will provide workspace, specialty tools and guidance to help you take items apart and troubleshoot. Even if an item cannot be fixed, you will learn more about how it was made and how it works.

In addition to repair support, attendees can take part in special activities, including:

• Making personalized, embroidered pet bandanas
• Creating upcycled dog toys
• Bringing blankets and towels for animal shelter donations
• Engaging with Love on a Leash certified therapy dog teams
• Learning how to repair surfboard dings and wetsuits
