- Known as Robertson Ranch Park, the next city park will be located on 13.2 acres near the intersection of El Camino Real and Cannon Road.
- The new park is part of the City Council’s 5-Year Strategic Plan, focused on maintaining Carlsbad’s excellent quality of life and unique community character.
- At this time, the city does not have a timeline for construction. Once the final park design is approved, the City Council will provide direction on funding and next steps.
- At 13.2 acres, the Robertson Ranch Park site is smaller than the city’s large community parks, like Aviara Community Park (24 acres), and about twice as big as Holiday Park (6 acres).
- On July 23, 2024, the City Council approved the proposed design for the park, known as the recommended master plan, and directed staff to proceed with the necessary environmental permitting and entitlements.
- After extensive research, study and design, the permit applications for the park were filed in January 2026.
- Staff is actively working with appropriate departments so the necessary permits can be presented before the Planning Commission in fall of 2026.
Public input
Last year, city staff gathered input from the community to kick off the design process for Robertson Ranch Park. Based on that input and the Parks & Recreation Department Master Plan, the project team created three different park design options for public review and feedback.
