On August 15, 2024, at 8:02 p.m. the City of Carlsbad Police Department was called to the intersection of Batiquitos Drive and Daisy Avenue due to a traffic collision involving a vehicle and an electric motorcycle.

On arrival, officers found the rider of the electric motorcycle, a juvenile, injured in the intersection and being treated by bystanders. The juvenile rider was treated by the Carlsbad Fire Department for major injuries and was then transported to the hospital for further treatment.   

The driver of the vehicle, a 39-year-old male and resident of Carlsbad, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The identity of the injured juvenile is being withheld at this time.

The cause of the collision has yet to be determined, however, drugs or alcohol are not considered to be a factor in the collision.
