When you’re ready to recycle your holiday tree, Carlsbad residents can take advantage of free curbside pickup or drop-off at convenient locations.
Prepare your tree
Before setting your tree out for pickup or drop-off, please follow these guidelines:
- Remove all stands, ornaments, lights, and tinsel.
- Cut trees over 6 feet in half (for curbside collection only).
- Flocked or fire-retardant trees are not accepted.
Once your tree is ready, choose the option that works best for you.
Drop-off
Drop off will be available Friday, Dec. 26, through Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the following locations:
- Calavera Hills Community Park: 2997 Glasgow Drive
- Fire Station 1: 1275 Carlsbad Village Drive
- Recycling Buyback Center at the Palomar Transfer Station: 5960 El Camino Real
- Poinsettia Community Park: 6600 Hidden Valley Road
- Stagecoach Community Park: 3420 Camino de los Coches
Curbside pickup
Curbside pickup will be available Friday, Dec. 26, through Friday, Jan. 16.
- Single-family homes: Place your tree next to your green organics cart on your regular collection day. Tree collection will be completed by a separate truck, not the regular organics recycling truck. Check the holiday service schedule, as collection days may be delayed.
- Multi-family residents: Check with your property manager to see if there is a centralized tree pickup location at your complex, or call Republic Services customer service to schedule a free bulky item pickup.
Recycling your tree helps keep holiday waste out of the landfill and supports the city’s composting and recycling programs.
