Stabbing investigation in downtown Carlsbad

On March 1, 2026, at approximately 1:48 a.m., Carlsbad Police officers responded to the 400 block of Grand Avenue for a report of a stabbing.

When officers arrived, they located an adult male suffering from multiple stab wounds and immediately provided medical aid until paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries and is currently in stable condition. The victim’s identity is not being released at this time.

Preliminary information indicates the stabbing occurred during a physical altercation involving multiple individuals. The suspect fled the area prior to officers’ arrival.

Detectives from the Carlsbad Police Department’s Crimes of Violence Unit are actively investigating and following up on leads. Based on the information known at this time, this appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no known ongoing threat to the community.

No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
