A special Fixit Clinic is coming to Dove Library on Saturday, June 13, with a theme that connects everyday repairs with simple ways to support your home and garden.
Community members can bring broken or non-working items, including electronics, small appliances, bicycles, clothing and more, to work alongside volunteer coaches who can help troubleshoot and make repairs. The city will provide workspace, specialty tools and guidance.
This Fixit Clinic will also feature a “From Kitchen to Garden” theme, with hands-on activities and resources to help reduce waste and support healthy plants at home.
Activities include:
- Garden tool sharpening
- Tips for food waste recycling and free kitchen caddies
- A simple fertilizer starter kit activity
- A succulent swap
- Seed library resources

Registration is encouraged to help pair you with the best available repair coach for your item. Walk-ins are also welcome and will be helped on a first-come, first-served basis as space and volunteer availability allow.
Even if an item cannot be fixed, Fixit Clinics are a great way to learn how things are made, how they work and how to keep more items out of the landfill.
The Fixit Clinic will take place at the same time as the library’s Grow Your Garden program, “Is My Garden Soil Dirt?” In keeping with this year’s Summer Reading Adventure theme, “Plant a Seed, Read,” the program will include hands-on demonstrations about soil texture and how air, water and nutrients move through soil.
