Business Support with the City's Small Business Liaison

Overview

To improve access to City resources for small businesses, the City's Small Business Liaison, in partnership with the Carlsbad Library, will offer regular in-person office hours at the Dove Library. These sessions will provide direct, personalized support to local businesses on navigating city processes.

Every Tuesday, 9 – 11 a.m.

Businesses will be able to book 30-minute appointments directly through the Carlsbad Library website or on this page via the City’s Digital Resource Hub.

Session Goals & Focus Areas

These business office hour sessions serve as the first point of contact for business inquiries and are critical in helping the city understand emerging business needs and inbound leads. Topics may include:

• Navigating city processes
• Questions about business licenses
• Understanding permitting requirements
• Clarification on zoning
• Determining correct business classifications and usage
• Guidance on home-based vs. commercial operations
• Assistance with signage regulations
• Support with commercial code enforcement-related issues
• Incentives, grants or other financial related support
• Connection to external organizations or business activities
• General navigation of city departments or contacts

Based on the initial project information the Small Business Liaison will provide additional information or connect to the appropriate resource in the city of Carlsbad or an external contact where appropriate and applicable.

Other Appointments 

Please be advised if you have a specific Development related inquiry you can schedule an appointment with the development services team Monday-Friday. Appointments are thirty minutes in length.
