The City of Carlsbad held several public meetings as part of the redistricting process. See below for more information.

Virtual map workshops

The City of Carlsbad held two virtual workshops for residents to learn how to create new City Council district maps to reflect the population changes from the latest census.

At the workshops, the city’s demographer from National Demographics Corporation went over map requirements and the tools available for residents who want to create their own district maps. The city is providing a pen-and-paper map making kit and two online tools.

Public hearings

The Independent Redistricting Commission held two of four public hearings to get resident input on City Council district boundaries and communities that should stay together for the purpose of electing a City Council member, called communities of interest.

Informational webinars

The city held four webinars to share information about the City Council redistricting process and how to provide feedback on new City Council district boundaries. These informational meetings provided an overview of redistricting, the steps in the process, how to participate and the basics of map-making.
