Building inspection requests are now available in Carlsbad’s Self-Service Online Permit Portal, providing customers with a more streamlined and convenient way to schedule inspections and view inspection history. Contractors and builders can:

• Request building inspections using Carlsbad’s Online Permit Portal. Includes ability to request into future (few weeks out).
• Receive email confirmations when online inspection request is scheduled.
• View inspection history, such as inspections that are passed. When inspections do not passed, you’ll view any corrections by the inspector. Once corrections are addressed, schedule a reinspection via the Online Permit Portal.

During the transition to the online building inspections, Building’s inspection request webform will remain available.

NO INSPECTIONS are scheduled on city-observed holidays.

For September, the next holiday is Monday, September 7th. 

Inspection requests placed the day before a city-observed holiday will roll over to the next available business day. 

All work performed under a valid/issued permit is subject to city inspection, which must be scheduled. City inspections are performed to ensure compliance with applicable government codes and standards and any project conditions of approval.
