Master Fee Schedule

The city charges different development-related fees.  These fees include but are not limited to:

  • Processing fees covering staff review (or 3rd party consulting review) of submittal documents regarding compliance with state and local regulations.
  • Permit fees covering inspection staff time during construction of a project and finaling of a permit.
  • Impact Fees charged to new and redevelopment projects covering impacts to public infrastructure such as streets, potable water, recycled water, sanitary sewer, traffic, etc.
  • Pass-thru fees such charged to projects that collected by the City but pass onto other agencies such as the County Water Authority or State-mandated green fees.

For a summary of Development Fees, refer to the current Master Fee Schedule approved by City Council.  Fees are updated annually or throughout the year, so check often and take note of upcoming fee updates and effective date(s).

Building Fee Estimates

The Building Division provides a service for estimating building permit fees on new development projects. Service fees apply per the Master Fee Schedule. To learn more about development fees and to apply for a fee estimate on a new/proposed project, please refer to form B-40.  Once the form is completed, requests are submitted via Carlsbad's Online Permit Portal.
