Historic Carlsbad GIS Tour Map. In collaboration with the Information Technology, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) section, the city’s Historic Preservation Commission and Carlsbad Historical Society developed an inventory of properties that are on the city’s historic walking tour (Historic Carlsbad: A Self-Guided Tour). The information made available on the city’s tour map reflects the most up-to-date version, which includes some of the properties listed in the Local Register and other known historic properties listed in the 1991 Historic Resources Survey.

• Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park Then & Now. This online viewer is a portal to an interactive story map application that allows you to access historic information about the Ranch as it looked in the past through historic photos, connecting the past with the present.
• Historical Carlsbad California | Visit Carlsbad. Visit Carlsbad’s storyboard shows how different places in Carlsbad tells a story and shows how Carlsbad became the place it is today.

• United States Historic Aerial Imagery Viewer. This third party has a searchable, geo-locatable database and provides a series of aerial photographs of sections of the city and shows how the city changed over time.
• UCSB Frame Finder. If you would like to visually compare the past with present, this third party has a searchable spatial database of aerial photographs of sections of the city and shows how the city changed over time.

• 50th Anniversary of Carlsbad (part 1). Take a look back at Carlsbad’s history, through a video from the city’s 50^th birthday. The video has historical photos and interviews with long-time city residents and former city officials who talk about the events that led to the city’s incorporation. 
• 50th Anniversary of Carlsbad (part 2). The second part of the 50^th anniversary video, covers the early growth and expansion of the city from the 1960s onward and the city’s approach to planning and managing growth.

• Carlsbad Historical Society – A Self-Guided Tour. A video by the Carlsbad Historical Society that uncovers the layers that have built Carlsbad’s identity.

• City of Carlsbad Genealogy and Carlsbad History Room Collection. The Carlsbad History Collection is housed at the Georgina Cole Library and focuses on resources that directly contribute to, and enhance users’ understanding of, local history. The Carlsbad History Collection has paper, microform and electronic records of films, images, postcards, maps, records, and reports, oral histories, etc. You can access digital Carlsbad History Collection resources through this link: carlsbadca.gov/historyroom.
