In general, zoning creates a regulatory framework on property such as types of use (i.e.: residential, commercial, mixed use, industrial, etc.), density, minimum lot sizes, setbacks, maximum height, and many other factors. Zoning regulations vary depending on where you are in the city. To learn more, refer to the city’s, Zoning ordinance, Zoning map, and Zoning requirements.
Other regulations that may impact development projects: Coastal Zone, Growth Management, General Plan, and Specific Plans/Master Plans. To learn more, visit the Planning homepage.
