Community Arts Grants
The City of Carlsbad Cultural Arts Division serves to encourage, develop and facilitate an enriched environment of artistic, creative and cultural activity in Carlsbad and the North San Diego County region. As a component of many services and activities, the city manages funding programs to provide financial support to organizations, schools and individuals for various projects through a competitive application and review process.
Grantee Spotlight
Striving to Serve Others is a North County San Diego nonprofit dedicated to building meaningful intergenerational connections through service-based arts programs. The organization brings together youth, seniors, veterans and community members in Carlsbad to foster empathy, celebrate shared experiences and strengthen the community through creativity and service.
This fall, the group hosted art-mentoring events that paired volunteers with elementary school students, creating opportunities for guidance, collaboration and connection. These activities lead into a multi-day, student-led service event focused on honoring veterans and deepening relationships between young people and those who have served.
Through these experiences, participants engage in intergenerational mentoring, support youth-driven service projects and develop confidence, compassion and practical skills. The project will culminate in a free, three‑day community showcase for Carlsbad residents in spring 2026.
