Trail volunteers are critical in maintaining and preserving our trails. Volunteering is also a great way to have fun, keep fit and learn about our natural environment, all while making a lasting contribution that benefits the community for generations. 

The City of Carlsbad is looking for dedicated trail volunteers to assist in preserving, maintaining and protecting the Citywide Trail system by attending trail maintenance events.

The city currently has approximately 67 miles of trails with long term plans for adding more trails and maximizing the current trail system. By becoming a trail volunteer you will:

• Attend at least three trail events per year
• Gain trail maintenance experience
• Learn about our unique coastal environment
• Socialize with other like-minded community members
• Provide community service and have fun

Mark your calendar for upcoming 2025 volunteer opportunities and please remember to wear gloves, closed-toe shoes and sunscreen. The city will provide new volunteers with a short training on use of tools. The city will also provide shovels, rakes and water.
