Effective September 1, 2026, the Carlsbad Police Department will implement a $107.00 storage fee for firearms accepted and held for safekeeping.

This fee applies to firearms voluntarily surrendered for safekeeping, as well as firearms lawfully retained by the department when storage is authorized by law. The fee is intended to recover a portion of the administrative and storage costs associated with the seizure, impoundment, storage, or release of any firearm.
