At a glance

  • The Orion Center will centralize the city’s maintenance and operations functions into one location on Orion Way. 
  • The site is located at 2600 Orion Way, near the northeast corner of Orion Way and Orion Street, adjacent to Police & Fire Headquarters and the Fleet Maintenance building. 
  • Bringing together these services will improve efficiency, reduce environmental impacts and support better coordination among staff. 
  • The project will allow the city to repurpose two existing sites: 
    • Public Works Maintenance Yard, 405 Oak Ave. 
    • Parks Maintenance Yard, 1166 Carlsbad Village Drive 
  • The project includes approximately 45,592 square feet of enclosed space across multiple buildings. 
  • The project is in the design phase, with an updated application under city review.
  • Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in fall 2027.
