Facility features
The Orion Center (Project 3572) will include:
- Operations office building (approximately 8,500 square feet)
- Warehouse and shop space (approximately 28,300 square feet)
- Police evidence and storage building (approximately 8,800 square feet)
- Covered and uncovered storage areas
- Upgrades to the existing vehicle wash facility
- Parking for city vehicles and staff
The design has been refined to reduce the overall building size while meeting operational needs and avoiding the need for a parking garage.
Departments at this location
The following teams will be based at the Orion Center:
- Street and Storm Drain Maintenance (Transportation Department)
- Fleet & Facilities Department
- Parks Maintenance (Parks & Recreation Department)
Police Department staff will use the facility regularly but will not be permanently based on site.
Sustainability features
The project is designed to support the city’s Climate Action Plan and includes:
- Electric vehicle charging infrastructure
- Rooftop solar power, with capacity for future expansion
- Stormwater biofiltration
- Drought-tolerant and native landscaping irrigated with reclaimed water
