Library Genealogy Resources Available From Home

The Carlsbad City Library continues to respond to family and local history inquiries! Genealogy & Carlsbad History staff are happy to provide remote research services, including assistance with using the library’s genealogy databases and lookups in any print resources in our genealogy and local history collections. Please give us a call at 760-434-2931, or send us an email at genealogy@carlsbadca.gov, and we will reply as soon as possible within one to two business days.

Branching Out Video Series

Introducing a series of short videos created by our library staff to help you expand your genealogy research with online resources.  

  • Branching Out: Using wildcards in Ancestry Library Edition. Wildcards are a tool for genealogists to use when searching databases to account for misspellings and spelling variations in the records of our ancestors. In this first episode of Branching Out, you’ll learn how the strategic use of wildcards can reveal hidden genealogy records in Ancestry.com Library Edition!

Virtual Genealogy Programs

Genealogy programs are presented through a partnership between Carlsbad City Library and the North San Diego County Genealogical Society (NSDCGS). Webinars will open 30 minutes before the start time to allow attendees to join and begin on time. You may pre-register any time before the meeting by visiting the event links below. Please be advised there is a 250-participant limit for the live events. Limited technical support will be available during the webinars; however, if you have any questions before or trouble connecting on the day of thge event, please email sarah.dana@carlsbadca.gov.
