Free Online Tutoring for Students & Job Seekers

Carlsbad City Library now offers access to thousands of live, online tutors for grades K – 12, college-level work and adult learners through a partnership with Tutor.com. Career tutors are also available to help job seekers navigate a job search, work on a resume and prepare for an interview. The service is free for Carlsbad City Library cardholders.

“This is an unprecedented time for students, many of whom are adjusting to an online learning environment,” said Library & Cultural Arts Director Heather Pizzuto. “We’re pleased to offer real-time support to help students stay on top of their classwork as well as assist job seekers in getting extra help as needed.”

At a Glance

  • Tutor.com is a free, web-based service connecting expert professional tutors with student and adult learners, online in real time.
  • Tutors provide homework help for students in grades K – 12, as well as support for college-level work, resume writing and test preparation for SAT, GRE and more.
  • Feedback on writing assignments, including college and scholarship applications and cover letters, is available within 24 hours.
  • Princeton Review test prep materials are available for review and download.
  • Live tutoring in foundational subjects is also available in Spanish.
  • Live tutoring hours are 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. daily.

A Carlsbad City Library card number is required to access Tutor.com through the library’s eResources, located under “Homework Help” and “College and eLearning.” For those without a library card, apply for free online.

Access to this service is free for the public through Carlsbad City Library’s paid subscription. Users will need to create a free Tutor.com account in order to save tutoring sessions for later reference or utilize the writing review service. For Tutor.com’s internal record-keeping purposes, an account is also required to use the Princeton Review SAT and AP exam preparation tools. Students should never be asked for a credit card or payment information through the Tutor.com system or individual tutors.Tutor.com and Princeton Review also offer individual personal paid subscriptions. If you encounter any requests for payment, please make sure you are using the access link from the Carlsbad City Library’s eResources page to utilize our library subscription.
