Virtual Summer Reading Adventure June 15-Aug. 9

The City of Carlsbad’s virtual 2020 Summer Reading Adventure for all ages, from babies to adults, began on June 15 and runs through Aug. 9. This year’s theme is “Imagine Your Story.” The program allows participants to record and track their reading and activity progress online. All programs will be offered virtually. Participation is free.

At a Glance

  • The Summer Reading Adventure is a fun way for kids and teens to keep their reading skills sharp and prevent learning loss over the summer. The program also encourages a life-long love of reading for all ages and provides reading recommendations.
  • Beginning June 15, participants can create a free account at https://carlsbadlibrary.beanstack.org and sign up for the program that matches their age or grade.
  • Reading rewards will be arranged at a later date when the libraries have reopened.
  • There will be no in-person reporting this year due to COVID-19. The 2020 Summer Reading Adventure Volunteer program has also been cancelled.

Virtual Summer Reading Adventure Programs

Past summer reading favorites and some new, fresh faces will offer their educational and entertaining programs live on Facebook this summer.

Interactive and educational digital experiences have also been created for children to help keep them engaged over the summer.

Programs for adults will include virtual concerts, author events and more.
