The City of Carlsbad has upgraded the existing mobile digital reporting app Carlsbad@YourService to a new platform to provide new features and allow for greater community engagement. The new mobile app, CarlsbadConnects will be available for download beginning Jan. 8.
In addition to the Public Works requests, like to streets, sidewalks, graffiti that were available on the old app, the new app will include code enforcement matters and allow for class registration, pay utility bills and more.
Community members have a quick and convenient way to connect with the city to report road hazards, street lights, graffiti and other things in need of repair around the city.
Community members can now connect with Code Enforcement to report code violations like homeless encampments, unpermitted construction and other infractions
Community members will have other widgets available on the app like Parks & Recreation registration, utility bill payments and more
For those who prefer to report problems by phone, we will continue to have staff available to process these requests.
The city’s IT Department has been quietly testing the app over the past few months with city volunteers and other groups. According to Project Manager Paul Waldron, the public response has been very positive.
“People like that it’s easy not just to report something, but to find out the status,” said Waldron. “On the city side of things, the app lets us gather and analyze data very efficiently so we can track trends, response times and other metrics.”
The app lets people submit service requests anonymously or create a free account to track progress and see what other people have reported. Waldron said that people who would rather just call or email city staff without using the app can still do that. There is a list of department contact information on the city website.
“Carlsbad has always prided itself on providing excellent customer service in a very personal and caring way,” said Waldron. “People should think of the app of an extension of this service commitment for those who prefer to use digital tools.”
If you’re dealing with an emergency like a water main break, don’t use the app. To report emergencies or if you need service for something that’s not in the app see the contact information list.
