Stay Fit in the New Year

Stay fit, reduce stress, learn something new and meet new friends. The City of Carlsbad’s recreation programs are gearing up for the annual influx of new participants looking to make good on their New Year’s resolutions.

“January is the perfect time to try a new class or sign up for a regular fitness program,” says Mike Pacheco, recreation manager for the City of Carlsbad.  “We have a great variety, and we enjoy seeing all the new faces.”

Fitness classes like yoga, aerobics, Pilates, and Tai Chi Chuan are offered during morning and evening times throughout the city without expensive club sign up fees and contracts.

Join a rec sports league like basketball, soccer, softball or kickball. Or brush up on your tennis game with a series of lessons.

Enjoy dance? The city offers classes in ballet, line dancing and even social dance like swing, cha cha and waltz.

Try aqua-fit or aquatic boot camp, or swim laps in the warm water at City of Carlsbad’s Alga Norte Aquatic Center.

See full class schedules and fees in the Community Services Guide located at community centers and libraries or go online at www.carlsbadconnect.org and sign up today.
