🐍 The warmer spring weather means rattlesnakes and other wildlife are more active earlier. Most bites happen between April and October, so it’s a good time to stay alert outdoors. Here are a few quick safety tips: • Stay aware of your surroundings and avoid tall grass or brush • Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes outside • Keep dogs leashed and close to you • Keep yards tidy and clear areas where snakes may hide If you see a rattlesnake, keep your distance and slowly back away. For emergencies or bites, call 9-1-1. For non-emergency situations where a rattlesnake poses an immediate risk, contact the San Diego Humane Society Humane Law Enforcement team at 619-299-7012 (press 1 for Dispatch). New e-bike safety measures are coming to Carlsbad soon, including a minimum age of 12 for riding e-bikes and rules to strengthen and clarify Carlsbad’s existing e-bike laws. The city will launch a 30-day public information campaign in the new year to raise awareness of the new laws.
