Alga Norte Aquatic Center to reopen
Alga Norte Aquatic Center reopens Monday, March 3, at 6 a.m. following renovations to the pools, spa, bathrooms and locker rooms.

New signal and crosswalk on Avenida Encinas
A new traffic signal is turned on and a new crosswalk is now accessible along Avenida Encinas south of Poinsettia Lane, at the northern entrance to the shopping area.

Aquatic Center renovations
Work is progressing on the project to replaster the pools and spa and upgrade the restrooms and locker rooms at Alga Norte Aquatic Center.

Artist selected for new Barrio artwork
This week, an advisory committee made up of two community members, a transportation professional and two members of the city’s Arts Commission selected Mario Torero to create the newest piece of public art for the Barrio, Carlsbad’s oldest neighborhood.

Last year, we received input from the community on the vision for the public art that will be featured in the center of a new traffic circle in the Barrio at Pine Avenue and Harding Street, one of the gateways into the Barrio.

Terramar construction updates
A year-long project to replace water and sewer pipes in the Terramar area (Carlsbad Boulevard and Cannon Road) has just begun. It’s a relatively small area, but one frequently traveled.

Flashing yellow arrow traffic light
To support safe walking and driving along Avenida Encinas north of Palomar Airport Road, a new traffic signal was installed near the entrance of the restaurants. It’s planned to turn on Monday, Oct. 28.

Carlsbad Blvd construction
If you travel along Carlsbad Boulevard around Cannon Road, please be aware that a project to replace aging water and sewer pipelines will cause some temporary lane closures and traffic delays starting this week and continuing for about a year.

Monroe Street Pool project approved
The City Council has approved the final design for a major renovation of Monroe Street Pool, meaning the project is now ready to be put out to bid for construction.

Changes to Sea Wall and stairs coming
The Traffic Safety & Mobility Commission will review a project on Aug. 5 to replace the upper seawall stairs along Carlsbad Boulevard and widen the sidewalk between Cherry and Pine avenues.
